She is survived by her three children Larry Ray (Judy Jefferson Vance) Schultz of Escondido, CA, Linda (Paul) Ernst of Princeton, Marianne McShane-Suelter of Peoria, and two step-children Jerry Alvey of Normal,  and Judy Sue(Don) Rohde of Washington, as well as thirteen grandchildren, Sasha, Sheridan, Aubrie, Andrew, Marc, Kellie, Adam, Betsy, Michelle, Michael, Angela, Alison, Andrea and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

Nellie was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul William and Charles Lewis, her husband, Irvin, her daughter Janice Nevins, her grandson Jonathon Nevins, her son-in-law Michael McShane.

Nellie enjoyed traveling with Irvin in their motor home, spending time with her children and their families. Nellie’s most precious possession was her family. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.  She was an active member of Christian Business and Professional Women’s Association for many years in Bloomington-Normal.  Her profession as a Medical Technician was with Cornbelt Laboratory in Bloomington.  Nellie was a loving mother and grandmother and loved hosting family and friends in her home.  She also loved traveling and camping with her husband Irvin.  She was a patient, loving, kind, selfless woman who showed the love of Christ to everyone she encountered.  She will be missed dearly; however, her legacy remains in the many who loved her.

“Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, and kindness in your smile.”
